Walking is an excellent exercise for new mamas. It helps shed weight, feels great, and best of all it's baby-friendly. If you've got a rugged stroller or baby carrier you're good to go. The downside - how many times can you walk around your neighborhood? Yawn. I must have walked my same neighborhood with my son about a million times when he was a baby. It get's old, and you lose motavation. Try new walking locations such as... The zoo. Membership at most city zoos is well worth the price. Miles of nice clean walking paths, and entertainment besides. A new park or neighborhood. Look up interesting (not risky) parks and neighborhoods with cool homes. Go walking there and see some new sights. Hit the beach. If you live near anywhere sandy, like a beach, you're lucky. Sand gives you a better walking workout than flat pavement. Take your baby carrier, not the stroller obviously. Walk downtown and window shop, or get to the mall. Now for me, going to the mall would be a pain. I hate the mall. However, if you like that sort of thing, and go in the early morning, you can get a good workout in, and possibly shop for new shoes :) Bonus tip: Investigate the Strollometer so you know how much you're walking.
