Once you have your new baby, visitors come in droves; droves I tell you. People just can't resist. However, new baby time is tight and hard as it is, too many visitors can be frustrating. It's a balance; you want people to know about your new little bundle, but not to come over or call all the time. You and your partner need alone time with your baby, so how to manage:
  • Record a message on your answering machine. Make it cheerful, and add in some cool info about your baby, but also say, we're resting right now and will call when we feel ready for visitors.
  • Use group email: You can send baby stats, family news and more by email to keep everyone informed, without having them visit.
  • Make up some cards (in envelopes, stamped) before your baby arrives. Once he's born, fill in the vital stats, and send your partner to the mailbox.
With the above tips, you can keep family and friends in the know, and still have a little time to yourself.
