Just a quick heads up; recent studies have shown that when a baby has colic it's far more likely that his mama will suffer from postpartum depression. The tricky part of the studies is that no one is sure which came first, the colic, or the depression. Which causes which is up for debate. What's not up for debate is that a new mama exposed to her baby's colic has double the chance of being depressed as a mama not exposed to constant crying. What this means to you: If you have a baby with colic it's important to be aware of your moods, and report any sad, depressed, or angry feeling to your health care provider right away. Your baby and you will be healthier and happier if you get treatment for postpartum depression before it gets out of control.
