If you're a new mama and your whole body is lagging under the strain of new mama baby care tasks combined with household and other life issues, don't worry; it's normal to be tired. However, I think we'll all agree that tired, while normal, is no fun - here are some ways to gain some extra energy. During the first few weeks SLEEP WHEN THAT BABY SLEEPS! Yeah I shouted. This won't work forever, so take advantage while your baby still sleeps most of the time. Get up and move. While moving may be the last thing you want to do while tired, it actually will offer you some extra energy. You don't need to go jogging or anything extreme; a simple brisk walk, or few minutes of good stretching can help to energize your body. Be a buddy. Calling up friends and family will give you some outside world perspective, enliven your brain, and get your energy level up. Skip coffee. As hard as it is for me to say, "Skip coffee" (I LOVE coffee) it's not wise to use caffeine as a new mama energy boost. One, caffeine can pass through breast milk. Two, all caffeine does is bring your energy up for a bit, and then it'll make you crash - i.e. make you more tired then before. Three, it'll keep you up at night when you need rest.
