Once you have kids, or even one kid, this problem pops up, all the grandparents want you and your child at their home for the holidays. In some families this issue even extends to aunts, cousins, and siblings. What to do:  Personally, I always found it amusing that once I had my son, I was expected by family to travel more. Well, amusing in a "heck no" kind of way. You have the little one, you're the one who'll have to pack up a car (or airplane) full of gear, then travel with a non-amused, cranky little traveler. I'm giving you permission to stay put. Have the family come to you.  I think people with older kids forget just how hard it can be to travel with little ones. Don't let them. Holding the festivities at your house is another headache altogether, but believe me, it's less work than travel. Plus once the grandparents arrive, they'll take over holiday prep for you. I know this won't work in all families. Some family situations and holiday events are too drenched in tradition to quit, so later on this month I'll offer kid-friendly travel tips. That said, if you have a choice, stay at home.
