Colds are mostly annoying; not usually serious. However, too many colds while you're pregnant, or while you're a new mama is not only frustrating, but can sometimes lead to more serious illness because your immune system is already going wacky. Not to mention that no one wants to spread their cold to their newborn. One major reason people catch colds is a lack of sleep. In fact, new research shows that if you sleep less than 7 hours a night, you're three times more likely to catch a cold than your well-rested peers. I know it's hard to catch your zzzzz's as a new mama, and when you're preggers, there's not many comfortable sleeping positions, but for the sake of your health and your baby's, you should try hard to get that beauty rest. You might try some baby (and mama) soothing music or a nice warm bath before bed. Also read, Tips for sleeping great during pregnancy.
