Can you trust all those old wives' tales you hear about baby gender? Most likely no. Most of these...

- If you're carrying high it's a boy - not true. In fact I carried low and had a boy. There was some actual research about this tale done at John Hopkins a while back, and they found no connection between how you carry and the gender of your baby.
- If you want sweet foods you're carrying a girl. If you want meat or salt it's a boy. OK in my case this was true. Me a vegetarian REALLY wanted a hamburger during my entire pregnancy. I didn't have one, but man did I want one. Still, food cravings are likely related to your personal preferences and nutritional standing. For example, my midwife thought I wanted meat because my protein level was a little low.
- If your face is round you're having a girl, and if your face is long and narrow you're having a boy. Well, all I can say here is that plenty of women with all sorts of face shapes have both boy and girl babies - so, not true.
