I never had excessive night sweats after my son was born, but I've had girlfriends who complained about this and they said it was really bad - very sweaty stuff, like waking up at night drenched. Excessive sweating can and does occur after your baby is born because during pregnancy our bodies store a lot of extra fluid. Why some women sweat more than others after the birth is not known, but if this is happening to you you'll want to make sure you take in plenty of fluids throughout the day, especially if you're breastfeeding. On the plus side, usually night sweats (or day sweats) only last several weeks. I know, "several" sounds bad, but that means it's not forever. NOTE: If you're sweating and feel super warm you may have an infection. Always contact your health care provider if your temperature rises above 100 degrees and you recently gave birth.
