Pregnancy sex can for sure cause harm to your baby, but stories (um, rumors) of a guy's penis hitting the little babe in your tummy is NOT one of the ways sex can cause trouble. The penis is not going to break your water or knock into your baby's head (really). How sex might hurt your baby... If you fail to practice safe sex and contract an STD it can cause serious harm to your baby's development. Always practice safe sex during pregnancy and/or only have sex with a partner you totally trust. If you notice vaginal bleeding after sex, it's smart to stop having sex until you clear it with your prenatal care provider. Bleeding can mean various things, such as placenta previa or premature labor - both of which can harm your baby if you don't get it checked out. If someone wants to give you oral sex during your pregnancy and they have a cold sore, I'd think twice. Oral sex is normally safe during a healthy pregnancy, but a cold sore can mean a herpes virus that may infect your baby. Rough sex (I mean no holds bar rough sex) should probably be saved for another time. While sex is a-ok during pregnancy and even sex toys are fine, you don't want to fall off a bed, down the stairs or put yourself in another risky situation.
