OMG, as if gaining weight, morning sickness, and weird cravings aren't bad enough - but now there's peeing when you laugh. Yup, pregnancy has some downsides. Why it happens: Many women pee a little when they laugh (or cough, sneeze, etc) during late pregnancy. This is technically called stress or urinary incontinence, and it's annoying but not uncommon. During the last months of pregnancy, your uterus has gotten way bigger and is putting pressure on your bladder. How long will this last? Some women have this problem all the way into the postpartum period. After your baby is born, your uterus won't be pressuring your bladder so much, but your pelvic floor muscles are likely going to be weaker than usual still. Can you stop it? Not totally. Uh oh. However, you can try to lessen how long this issue lasts by doing daily Kegel exercises. If you do Kegels religiously during and after pregnancy, you should experience stronger pelvic floor muscles and less peeing while laughing.
