Creating the perfect baby registry seems easy enough. You go in, you check off items you love, you get the gifts at your shower. Right? Actually, besides choosing your fave products, there are some other baby registry issues you should consider. 1. You should start NOW: Register at least six weeks before your baby shower (although a full two months is smart) so that friends and family living far away have time to shop and ship. Plus, you never know how tired you'll be later on in your pregnancy and tired is not a smart way to create a registry. 2. You don't need to register for.... Baby blankets or stuffed animals. Everyone is seemingly obsessed with giving cute baby blankets and stuffed toys. Even if you register for zero, I promise you'll get some. Plus more folks will give you these sorts of gifts after your baby arrives. 3. You can register at more than one store: This is a smart move because one, you get a better selection of baby goods, and two, your friends and family have choices about where to shop. 4. You need to check up on your registries: Sometimes the items you register for go out of stock or you may find that a key item has not been purchased. For example, if no one buys you that car seat you want, well, you'll still need to budget for it, because car seats are a must have. 5. Big ticket items are ok: You should register for at least a couple big ticket items, even if you feel weird about it because you think it costs too much. If you work at an office your co-workers may want to go in together on one big item and the same can go for family.
