During the summer it's easy for you and your baby to go swimming or hike at the local park but as fall weather sets in, and with it the rain and chill, it's harder to stay motivated to keep moving. However, keep in mind that fall weather also coincides with the holiday season. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more all involve extra food and treats, so if you're a mama looking to stay fit you will need to get moving, even though it's chilly and wet. Some options... Ignore the weather: In Oregon tons of people exercise outside, even when it's raining and chilly (it's rainy a lot here). You can wear a good rain coat and your baby won't suffer if he's outside in the cold so long as you're prepared. Read the following: Take a class: Plenty of gyms and yoga studios now offer mama and baby classes or mama classes and a child care center. Find a gym that allows you to try out the program before you pay though so you can see if the classes fit your life and schedule. Head to the mall: The mall is super annoying to me - all those lights, all the crowds, and lots of stuff people don't need. That said, the mall has one major perk - it's HUGE. If you go early in the morning, you can walk the mall a few times and get some great exercise in. Get some home exercise tools: I have a stationary bike for when the weather gets too cold for outdoor exercise. A treadmill, exercise ball, small weights, and more can all help you work out at home and stay fit even when it's cold. I also suggest a great exercise DVD to keep you motivated.
