Do babies need Christmas gifts?

It's not even Thanksgiving and all I'm seeing is Christmas this and Christmas that... Ahhhh! In any case, with the holidays on the brain, you may be wondering how rude it is to skip all those baby Christmas gifts. Two words - not very! Young babies won't understand Christmas, and while it's fun to shop for your baby, it's not necessary to buy him a ton of gifts. Now that said, it's also important to create memories. You really don't want your child looking back at his photo book and asking, "How come Santa didn't bring me anything that year???"

The solution - find a happy medium. Consider the following. Get your baby a couple of meaningful gifts, wrap them up nice, and let him rip them open. You'll get some cute holiday pictures and he'll be perfectly happy. For gifts from others let them know items you need vs. getting a slew of toys (which you will). By now you've likely realized that your baby shower didn't fulfill all your baby needs so nicely ask family and friends to skip all the toys, which your baby won't use anyhow, and get him something useful like mealtime dishes, natural baby bath, and so on. Note, if you're working hard to afford more gifts you should know that what your baby really needs and wants is more time with you. That's a fact and one of the best gifts you can offer your little one.
