First of all I hope I don't have to say this, but NEVER give your baby chewing gum. It's a huge choking hazard. However, little ones with older siblings or access to a trash can or play date at the playground have been known to still get gum in their hair, and it's a shame to cut it off considering you may have been waiting forever for your baby to actually get some hair. Here's how to safely remove gum from super fine baby hair.

Olive oil - this is one of the best methods. Take small amounts of oil and lightly work it through the hair and gum with your fingers or a small comb. Continue until all the gum is removed then wash hair with baby safe shampoo. If you're out of oil, an oil based peanut butter can work too. Soak the hair in salty water then ice it. The ice and salt combo freezes the gum up and makes it easier to remove with your fingers or a comb. Organic hair mousse or organic hair silicone works semi-well - not as safe or effective as oil though. Apply either in small amounts, comb gum out then wash hair well with baby shampoo.
