It seems like all we hear about lately is pregnancy and postpartum depression. Obviously it's great that more media venues are highlighting this topic, since many women are never screened correctly for depression. On the other hand, it is, well, a little depressing (no pun intended). Later we'll have to look at some fun stuff. However, for now, some good tips about dealing with pregnancy depression minus the medications, which have been shown to be dangerious for babies in the womb. The New York Times offers up a suggestion for pregnancy depression relief - acupuncture. The Times discusses a recent study that found that women receiving depression-specific acupuncture showed a depression symptom reduction of at least 50% after eight weeks. Women receiving either massage or regular acupuncture did not have as much symptom reduction.
