Fertility treatments can be rough no matter who you are, but the path is perhaps a little rougher for single parents and same sex couples. With this in mind the American Fertility Association is focusing more efforts on educating both single parents-to-be and same sex parents-to-be. I think this is a great idea because if you want a child (and you're ready) you shouldn't let your personal life stop you. The American Fertility Association (The AFA), is a national non-profit organization, and in order to further the work of educating and supporting all men and women desiring to create their families - including hopeful singles, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons, the AFA will hold its 9th annual Illuminations (pdf) Los Angeles fundraising event on April 9th at the Sunset Tower Hotel, the Art Deco masterpiece on Sunset Boulevard. Illuminations LA highlights the importance of infertility prevention, reproductive health and family building, by interviewing reproductive endocrinologist specialists, patients, fertility advocates and of course, celebrities.
