False labor can be really annoying since you're so excited to meet your baby - plus tired of being preggers. However, one good thing about false labor is that it's actually easier to figure out than real, or true labor. Here's a quick checklist to help you out... It's most likely false labor if....
  • Your contractions are weak.
  • Your contractions are irregular and not getting stronger.
  • Your contractions stop if you change positions or move about.
  • You feel the contractions in your stomach. Real labor contractions are more likely to be felt all around your body, like a band, often starting in the back and moving to the front like a wave.
If any of the above is true, you're likely not in real labor yet. Of course if you have a weird feeling or other symptoms you should call your midwife or doctor to check in. You might also be interested in common prelabor signs.
