Keep a close eye on your tot. Additionally, look out for treats given out at the pumpkin patch. Most Halloween treats are not appropriate for babies and toddlers. Don't walk away from the carving table: Carving pumpkins is best done out of reach of your baby or toddler. Too many sharp knives and other small cutting tools pose a risk for little ones. Also, those scooped out seeds smell awesome to a baby who might like to stuff them in his mouth. Sadly, pumpkin seeds pose a choking hazard. Do go fire-free: Don’t light your Jack O' Lantern with a wax candle. Not only do wax candles emit soot and smoke that can be a danger to your baby, but wax candles burn and burn hot which poses a fire danger. Use LED candle lights to light your Jack O' Lantern. LED candles are flame free and soot free and so much safer. Don't ignore other fire risks: Just because you use LED candles doesn't mean your neighbors do. The holiday season is the worst when it comes to fires. Have one or more fire extinguishers readily available in your home and it's the perfect time of year to test your smoke detectors.
