I'm sure you don't need another reason to quit smoking before you have kids (or asap as the case may be) but a new study shows that secondhand smoke is connected to adolescent hearing loss. The research, reported in Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery shows that kids who are exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely than other kids to develop both low- and high-frequency hearing loss during their adolescent, or teen years. Additionally, the prevalence of hearing loss was directly related to the levels of secondhand smoke exposure kids had. Worse, about 82% of adolescents with hearing loss didn't actually recognize that they had hearing difficulties. In general, it's always best to stop smoking sooner, rather than later. Learn more:
