Britax announced today that is has acquired B.O.B. Trailers, maker of the famous single and double jogging strollers. In a tweet heard 'round the world (okay, fine heard by those of us who keep up with baby gear), Britax shared: "We’re excited to announce that BRITAX has acquired BOB. Complete details here" This news comes hot on the heels of a massive recall of B.O.B jogging strollers - over 400,000. That recall followed an earlier recall of over 300,000 B.O.B jogging strollers. As a company, B.O.B. dates back to 1994, when it began as a bicycle trailer manufacturer. Today, the company is known for its strollers that can handle rough terrain -- a BOB jogging stroller is sort of the SUV of the stroller world. “Families want products that fit their lifestyles,” said Karl Kahofer, CEO of BRITAX Child Safety, “and BRITAX is committed to developing products and technologies that provide safe mobility and comfort for children around the world. This commitment is reflected in the design and engineering of all our products — especially our B-Series strollers and accessories. “We’ve admired for some time BOB’s ingenuity and commitment to customers and are convinced that its products, customer service, and business ethics make it a natural fit for BRITAX. This purchase reinforces BRITAX global leadership in child safety and mobility, and is fully in line with our international growth strategy. We have no plans to change the BOB name; in fact we are excited to expand the BOB product range globally.” If you're curious about the sale price of the company, you're going to remain that way. Neither company disclosed the magical figure that Britax had to shell out to acquire B.O.B.
