TV Talent Critic: “I Feel
Like A Daddy”
Simon Cowell is known for his intense criticism of contestants on shows such as American Idol, but the 54-year-old television personality was all smiles as he greeted the media after his son was born.
The newest “idol”
Baby Eric joined the world on Valentine’s Day. Cowell took the first available flight from London to New York as soon as he got word Silverman was in labor, and by that evening, they had welcomed their baby boy into their family. The baby is named after Cowell’s father and is the first for the music mogul and TV critic, and the second for Silverman, who has a son named Adam from her former marriage.
Cowell was proud and beaming and the first words he said to his newborn baby were, “I’ve waited all my life for you.”
The new family will be leaving the hospital soon and there are already plans in the works to take the baby to the UK to meet Simon’s family. Silverman’s family, including her mother, sister, father and stepmother, were on hand to greet their new family member and all said that Baby and Mom are doing great. Cowell was spotted stopping at Myzel’s Chocolate and returning to the hospital with a bag of candy and an exhausted smile on his face.
The couple has already hired a nanny and are expected to stay at Silverman’s Park Avenue apartment. Cowell is worth an estimated $400 million and got his start in the mailroom at EMI Music Publishing.
