Before the designers of the all star season had to face critics like Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi, they had to get past Nina Garcia. Michael Costello gives the 411 on why she makes them all nervous.
“She’s the style editor at Marie Claire magazine, so she can make or break your career,” said Michael. If he felt that way about Nina we have to wonder what Michael’s reaction was when he found out that Nina’s boss would be his mentor, the Tim Gunn, on Project Runway All Stars.
Since the All Stars season was a different ball game with a different set of judges calling the shots, Michael had to face new critics. “Georgina Chapman was definitely the one who intimidated me the most.” He pointed out the difference between Georgina and Nina saying, “It’s not necessarily that she is somebody who can make and break your career. It’s just her criticism; you really want to impress her. I love Marchesa. I love the dresses that Georgina Chapman does.”
