Demi Moore was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital Monday night for exhaustion, her rep confirms.
It looks like all of the scrutiny over her breakup with ex-husband Ashton Kutcher has finally caught up to Demi Moore. The actress was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital late Monday night for “exhaustion.”
“Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health,” Moore’s rep said in a statement.
“She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”
However, sources told TMZ that the real reason for her hospitalization was caused by “substance abuse.” Emergency personnel were dispatched to Moore‘s Los Angeles-area home around 10:45 p.m. Monday night, according to the website. Paramedics later decided to transport her to the hospital.
The Margin Call actress’ health and well-being were questioned after her November split from Kutcher. She’s looked increasingly gaunt over the past several months, something she attributed to her love/hate relationship with her body.
“When I’m at the greatest odds with my body, it’s usually because I feel my body’s betraying me, whether that’s been in the past, struggling with my weight and feeling that I couldn’t eat what I wanted to eat, or that I couldn’t get my body to do what I wanted it to do,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.
However, she said she tried to find a happy medium.
“I find peace when I don’t see my body as my enemy, when I step back and have appreciation and look at all that my body has done for me. It’s allowed me to give birth to three beautiful children, allowed me to explore different roles as an actor, allowed me to be strong,” she told the magazine. You can’t look at yourself in the mirror and tear your body apart. You have to look at it and go, ‘Thank you. Thank you for standing by me, for being there for me no matter what I have put you through.'”
